cold house 3

Well, I am getting pretty envious of my friend Andy and is urbex adventures. I NEED to get out there with him soon. At any rate, I went out on my own today to shoot as I was going freaking bananas sitting home. So I ventured down to towanda today to my relatives farm in hopes to capture some decay. I have passed this old house a hundred times, but today dared to stop and step in the doorway and take some HDR shots. I am determined to find the owner through the help of my aunt and get inside to do some serious decay shooting and maybe some ghost hunting too. I loved the old linoleum flooring and falling wallpaper over the lath and plaster walls, the ceiling is falling in and I think the old kitchen and bath fixtures are still in there. My aunt tells me two old women lived here years ago but this place has been abandoned as long as I can remember. It is in North Towanda, PA on the down hill road to Sugar Creek Road. So if anybody knows anything about it, please contact me..AND.....if you have or know of a place that is falling into decay, please contact me so I can capture it before it falls to the ground. I love old buildings, factories and homes. I have some really COOL leads for some early 1900's abandoned buildings and rooms. So I hope they pan out for me.....

haunted car

Well I had my sleep study last night and there is still the ether based glue in my hair and on my scalp, I must say it reminded me of the old days of my tonsillectomy when they used it to put you under. I kinda liked it. I also now have thorns in my arms and legs as I ventured down this ravine off Staw Hill Rd. in Barton, NY to shoot a spring creek. I was eerily surprised when I turned around and noticed this old car imbedded in the hill side with trees growing around it. I wondered how long it has been there and how it got there and if anybody was hurt or killed in this or if it was just junk pushed over the bank. It is near the top Straw Hill on a fairly sharp curve near my grandfathers old place on the hill. At any rate I did feel a little creeped out and uneasy so I grabbed some shots if it and the stream and endured more thorns as I hurried my way out of the ravine. So maybe I was still feeling the effects of the ether, or lack of sleep or just plain old fashioned spooked. I would like to know more about his though

supermoon 3-19-11

Tonight is the so-called "supermoon" which will begin at 3 pm this afternoon right on my brothers birthday...I used my 40D on tripod with 200mm lens and goofed around till I got one I thought was ok. If i am still standing tonight, I might try to get another shot wtih the 1.4X TC on the 200mm. For all you doomsday ppl. or twilight buffs, A little on the supermoon that I borrowed from other sites....

As the sun sets in the west tonight, the biggest, brightest moon in about 20 years will begin peeking over the eastern horizon.

The so-called supermoon will be about 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than normal, according to NASA.

It will be the closest full moon we've had since 1993, so if you want to wait another 19 years or so for your next crack at it, then do so
And taken from Yahoo........
"Along with the Supermoon of March 2011 have come all sorts of dire predictions of the havoc it will allegedly cause. For instance, there is a theory that the gravity of the Supermoon will cause all sorts of seismic events on Earth. Some have even pointed to the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that has devastated northeastern Japan as evidence.

While the gravitational pull of the moon does have a slight effect on tectonic plates due to tidal forces, there is zero evidence it causes earthquakes. Indeed, according to Natalie Wolchover, writing for "Life's Little Mysteries," the theory doesn't even make sense in relation to the Japan event. The Japan earthquake occurred Friday, a week after the new moon and a week before the Supermoon, when tidal forces caused by the moon's gravitational pull are at their weakest.

In any case, seismic events do not follow a lunar cycle. The stresses that cause earthquakes and volcanic eruptions build up over decades or even centuries before causing catastrophe, death and mayhem. The movement of tectonic plates, causing pressure to build up over time, and not anything celestial causes these things.

The theory that the Supermoon was going to cause seismic havoc on Earth was first advanced by an astrologer named Richard Nolle. Nolle predicted the Supermoon would cause earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and storms. Astrology is not, however, science. It was amusing to think in the Middle Ages that the alignment of the stars, the planets and the moon somehow influenced events on Earth down to the minute course of peoples' lives. Most people know better in the 21st century".

Mansfield vs Mahanoy

Mansfield vs Mahanoy

So, I was back at MU last night to shoot the Mansfield TIgers in their 1st round of the Disctrict IV Class A State Playoffs against the Manahoy Area Bears. It was back and forth between both teams for the first half after Mansfield jumped out to 8-0 lead early, but the Bears fought back to make it 25-25 at the half. The second half looked very much like the first, however it was Mansfield who ended up winning by a score of 49-41. The win puts them in the sweet sixteen again this year and will face Constitution next Tuesday. I am getting used to shooting at MU and again enjoy the ambient light in the place. Most of my shots were taken with the 1D Mark IIN and the ever faithful 85 1.8 but I decided to break out the wide angle for a few shots as well. Unless I shoot Tuesday, It looks like high school basketball will be over this year for me. Still looking forward to shooting some Elmira Jackals to end the winter shooting season and gearing up for spring and hardball, softball, track and landscapes.

#6 Robbie Wright-Loyalsock 2

Was going through my Flickr acct. and noticed someone added some of these North-South All Star game photos to their favorites. I was just getting into the sports shooting mode a few years back when I snapped this one. It is still one of my favorites. I think I had just got my Canon 40D which I used to shoot this with my 70-200 lens. I remember this kid being pretty amazing, and def. got some air time on this spectacular catch. Though 2011 football season is a long way off yet, I am getting excited to start shooting the baseball season !!
I am on the road tonight to shoot Mansfield High School again in their first round of the PIAA Dist. IV state playoffs at Mansfield University. I hope the creeks cooperate and let me get there safely as many of the roads in that area are now closed or will be closed due to the flooding we are currently experiencing. I enjoy shooting at MU for the great crowds and fantastic ambient.
